A great day in the office for India, but South Africa are a quality outfit and they will look to bounce back on Sunday in Guwahati. India will be keen to figure out how serious Bumrah's back niggle is. The Proteas will have extra nets to fine tune their batting. Lots to look forward to. That's curtains for now. See you all after a 3-day break. Goodnight.

Arshdeep Singh | Player of the Match: I had thought about what to say if I get the man of the match award and got a little excited (when he was eager to come and talk). In the first over DC bhai (Deepak Chahar) set the tone and we knew there was plenty of help from the surface. The plan was to keep it simple and bowl in the right areas. I enjoyed Miller's wicket as I thought he was expecting an outswinger but I bowled an inswinger instead. The thought was to get his (Maharaj) wicket but he played well and the plan could have been different. I am refreshed, had a good training session at NCA and hopefully I give such performances moving forward as well.

Rohit Sharma: The wicket was tricky. You learn a lot playing such a game. You understand what the team needs to do in tough conditions. It was nice to play a game like that. We knew the bowlers will get something seeing grass on the pitch, but we didn't expected help for the full 20 overs. It was still damp. Both teams were in the contest and the team that played better won the game. We started well, got 5 wickets in quick time and that was the turning point. Perfect showcase of how to bowl when there is help for the pacers (talking about Deepak Chahar and Arshdeep). We knew it wasn't going to be easy. Got to respect the conditions. Lost two wickets and that partnership between KL and Surya got us home.

Temba Bavuma: As a batting unit we failed to apply ourselves in those conditions. We didn't expect the pitch to play this way. Yes we expected it to be spicy but normally you will be able to hit through the line in this part of the world. Seamers needed runs behind then to defend. They tried their best and supported by spinners as well. I thought we fought well late with the bat. That's a positive.

KL Rahul: Definitely, right up there (as the toughest pitch). We have played in some difficult conditions like this but I haven't got runs, so this was hard work. It was unbelievable for Surya to come out there and play those shots, we have seen how balls were flying, nipping around, two-paced and everything that can be hard for a batter that was the wicket today, and for Surya to come with that approach after the first ball that hit him, he just woke up and wanted to play his shots, be aggressive and take on the bowling. That helped me take my time and play one end. (Expect that much help) Not that much. We did practice here yesterday and that was a humbling experience as well, we all came in prepared mentally as it was not going to be an easy wicket and I was ready to do the dirty work, ready to be challenged and get the job done for the team. He's (Arshdeep) growing with each game and with each outing he gets better, he is somebody who has a big heart and I have seen him in close quarters while playing in the IPL. This season what he did for his franchise was phenomenal and to be the number one death bowler in a team which has Rabada speaks highly of him. We always want a left-arm seamer and it is great to have someone like Arshdeep.

22:14 Local Time, 16:44 GMT, 22:14 IST: A dominant win in the end for India. When you saw the pitch before the toss, you knew the new ball would cause damage but not many expected 9/5 inside 3 overs. Arshdeep and Chahar killed the game right there by swinging the ball both ways. Lower-order stretched the total past 100, but it was always going to be easy for India despite all the help in the wicket for the pacers. It's normal to lose some top-order wickets early in such conditions but KL hung in there, while SKY continued to entertain us in his own audacious yet gracious style. The pick up shot he attempted off Nortje on arrival after the bowler thudded the glove and had just dismissed the inform Virat Kohli told us what Surya is all about.

16.4 Shamsi to Rahul, SIX, and KL says I will get my fifty too with a slog-sweep that easily clears backward square leg. Full and in the slot, great timing.

16.3 Shamsi to Suryakumar Yadav, 1 run, on the leg stump, SKY flicks to deep square leg. Fifty off 33 balls. Struggle? What struggle? That's what SKY will ask all the other batters today about this pitch. Crowd loves and celebrates the knock

16.2 Shamsi to Rahul, 1 run, full delivery, knocked to long-on. Looks like KL wanted SKY to get to fifty and didn't go hard for a big shot this ball

16.1 Shamsi to Suryakumar Yadav, 1 run, spinning down leg, SKY flicks through backward square leg

Tabraiz Shamsi [2.0-0-18-0] is back into the attack

             IND: 101-2 after 16 overs

15.6 Rabada to Suryakumar Yadav, 1 run, drives uppishly off the back foot, Bavuma dives at cover, doesn't carry to him, deflected to mid-off. Actually it did, but so tough despite a full length dive to the right

15.5 Rabada to Suryakumar Yadav, no run, short of length delivery, Suryakumar slashes towards cover

15.4 Rabada to Suryakumar Yadav, FOUR, oh wowww!
